NASCLA Trade Exam Accepted
Florida DBPR accepts the NASCLA accredited General Contractor trade exam in lieu of the Florida Trade Knowledge exam for CGC applicants.
Business & Finance Still Required
No state's reciprocity waives the Florida Business & Finance exam. Every out-of-state contractor must pass it to activate a Florida CGC.

How NASCLA Reciprocity Into Florida Actually Works
The NASCLA Accredited Examination Program lets a general contractor take a single trade exam that is accepted by multiple state licensing boards. When you hold a NASCLA-accredited general contractor credential from a participating state, Florida's DBPR will accept that trade exam record in place of the Florida Trade Knowledge exam for a Certified General Contractor (CGC) application.
However, reciprocity is not a full waiver. Florida always requires its own Business & Finance exam, a Florida application, financial stability documentation, and a background review. The NASCLA exam only replaces the trade knowledge portion — not the business-law portion.
For contractors who want to start pulling Florida permits without the months-long exam and application cycle, IQS places pre-vetted, actively licensed Florida CGC qualifiers as Primary or Secondary Qualifying Agents under a compliant qualifying agreement.
